DBIA Liberty’s Alleghenies Chapter kick-off Thursday, April 5th brought together contractors, architects, consultants, lawyers, and insurance professionals to learn about and celebrate the growth of Design-Build in the Allegheny region. The inaugural event, hosted at The Chadwick event center in Wexford, PA, drew a crowd of over 100 professionals from the area’s Design-Build community. Dan Adley, CEO of KTA-Tator, Inc. welcomed the full house and introduced the theme of the event, “The Next Wave of Prosperity is Upon Us… Are You Ready?”. Mike Arnold, Vice President of Construction Management Services at Reynolds Construction, LLC took it from there, opening the discussion with information about the Design-Build project delivery method; DBIA’s organizational structure; what led to the establishment of the Alleghenies Chapter; and the benefits of joining the new chapter.

There were two panel discussions, moderated by Gene Boyer, Vice President of Business Development at Nello Construction: PENNDOT Rapid Bridge Replacement, and Allegheny Health Network Community (HNC) Cancer Centers. The PENNDOT panel focused on the state’s aging infrastructure and the benefits of leveraging Design-Build, public-private partnerships, and pre-manufactured components to construct Pennsylvania’s next generation infrastructure. The AHN Cancer Center Panel discussed the progress of this fast-tracked Design-Build project, and the methods they are employing to achieve their 11-month project completion goal.
