Design-Build – It’s the American Way – Topic at DBIA Tri-State’s Recent Networking Event

DBIA Tri-State’s 2nd annual working breakfast, held at the prestigious Union League of Philadelphia on the 24th of January, set the stage for a lively discussion of how to apply Design-Build to a broad spectrum of construction opportunities in the region. Attorney Rhett Workman, Managing Director of Government & Airport Affairs at American Airlines, spoke to a crowd of more than fifty designers, engineers, contractors, lawyers and owners about his experience with D/B and American Airlines’ plan to implement Design-Build on its multi-billion-dollar investment at the Philadelphia Airport. The discussion ranged from his approach to coordinating capital improvement plan discussions with the business and political community to his strategy for implementing D/B at the Philadelphia Airport.

Michael Sheward, Principal at The Sheward Partnership and award-winning architect of major aviation terminal projects at the Philadelphia Airport, joined in the discussion, sharing lessons learned and lending insight into the benefits of Design-Build for aviation projects.

DBIA Tri-State would like to thank Mr. Workman and his associate Michael Sheward for an excellent presentation, with a special thank you to Grace Media for all their support and services that made this a successful event.
