NYC's MTA Leverages Design-Build to Modernize Subway System

The Metropolitan Transit Authority's (MTA) R-Train Station renovation in Sunset Park, Brooklyn is complete and commuters are reaping the benefits. The construction team completed the project in just over five months, shaving nearly 20% off the original schedule allocated for the renovation. Using Design-Build, designating a single team to be responsible for the design and construction of an entire project, the construction team was able to effectively coordinate subcontractor schedules and reduce lag times that typically arise during traditional construction delivery methods.
